ABOUT DIRECTORATE:

Forming an integral part of RDSO and a pioneer in Psychometric Testing this directorate came into existence in the year 1964 and has over 40 years of experience in human factors and safety. Since long, emphasis is being laid on safety in train operations and its strong urge felt by the Indian Railways eventually laid the foundation of this Directorate. Since its inception the directorate has been instrumental in development and standardisation of behavioural intervention programmes and their implementation on Indian Railways by playing a vital role in recruiting the right personnel for the operating categories. One of its kind in India, the directorate is continually working towards minimising of human failure through processes like test development, psychological testing and research studies on various issues related to organisational behaviour and Ergonomics which covers job analysis, safety, motivation, stress, supervision, counselling, appraisal of tools, etc.

The activities of the directorate include Research and Design in the area of Psychometry and Ergonomics, covering subjects like job analysis, motivation, stress management, supervision, counselling, and appraisal of tools.
